About Kong Star Records

In 2005, Shawn Kong, who always had an avid interest in music, founded the formerly known Island Star Records, now called Kong Star Records.

Shawn’s vision for the company was to produce the best music, and the best he did with Capital D, Mackeehan Solomon, and Sherieta Lewis. Each of those artists brought forth great music, and have left a lasting impression on our Genre (Reggae).

Not only has Shawn made it essential to produce good music, he produced great stage shows with legends such as Gregory Isaacs, Buju Banton, Sanchez, Johnny Osbourne, Dean Fraser, Ernie Smith, Mad Cobra, Mighty Sparrow, and other such greats on a local and international scale. What’s more, as Sound Clash is a part of the Jamaican culture, Shawn produced Sound Clash with veterans Killamanjaro and Mighty Crown, just to name a few.

Kong Star Records was established in 2013, and Duane Stephenson is the company’s newest artist. Duane’s journey with Kong Star Records began in 2010. Over time and with the development of a great friendship, the two decided to embark on a musical journey together, which resulted in his third studio album “Dangerously Roots,” which was released on September 23, 2014 on the ‘Kong Star Records’ and ‘Greensleeves’ label.

Kong Star's Management and Promotion Team invest time and genuine interest in their artist(s), and is always dedicated in ensuring their success.
